Project Type: Place Activation Strategy
Year: 2020-21
Client: Department of Planning, Infrastructure and Environment (DPIE)
Parramatta North Heritage Core is a major seven-hectare urban renewal precinct that features over 30 of some of the oldest colonial buildings in the country dating to the 1820s. Reactivate was engaged by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) to develop a ten-year activation strategy and plan for the precinct to bring the Place Vision to life. As part of the scope of works, Reactivate informed the activation planning with a wide range of stakeholder engagement. The plan was designed to develop concepts for activation from early in the project’s rejuvenation, during the light rail construction right through to the project’s final completion in early 2030s. Reactivate was also concurrently engaged to undertake a detailed precinct wide design review with the project architects and services engineers to help ensure the project’s design was optimised for activation well prior to refurbishment commencing construction.
