Andrew Coward to speak at PlacemakingX Sydney Masterclass

We are pleased to share that Reactivate Consulting Director and Co-founder Andrew Coward will join a distinguished national panel at the upcoming Placemaking X Sydney Masterclass, to be held on 30 April at the Bondi Pavilion.

Presented by Village Well and PlacemakingX, the event — A New Era of Placemaking — will examine how placemaking practice is evolving in response to the growing complexity of urban development, public policy, and community need. A central theme of the session will be Regenerative Placemaking: an approach that is place-led, systems-based, and designed to create places that are resilient, adaptive, and socially sustainable over time.

The masterclass will bring together practitioners, policy leaders, and development professionals to discuss how placemaking can shape investment, public policy, and community outcomes — and what kinds of capabilities and leadership will be needed in this next era of place-based work.

About the Session: Beyond activation and amenity

Placemaking is no longer a conversation confined to activation, programming, and public amenity. Increasingly, placemaking principles are shaping the way places are planned, financed, delivered, and sustained — informing decisions about investment, land use, governance, and long-term stewardship.

Andrew's participation in this panel reflects Reactivate Consulting's commitment to practice that goes beyond activation: work that builds genuine social and cultural value, engages diverse communities meaningfully, and contributes to the longer-term health and resilience of the places we work in.

The panel: Sydney Panelists

Andrew will be joined by an excellent line-up of Sydney panellists:

  • Bruce Mills, Director, Place Leaders Asia Pacific

  • Marcus Westbury OAM, Director of Creative Spaces, Create NSW

  • Brooke Wharton, Director of Vibrancy, Transport for NSW

  • Sam Shepherd, Managing Director, BellRinger Property Group
