Last month, our co-founder Andrew Coward, hosted the ULI Asia Pacific Executive Committee on a fantastic tour of Parramatta and Western Sydney. The committee from right around Asia as well as the ULI’s broader National Australian Council and a ULI Denmark representative, got to visit some of the key projects shaping the future of Western Sydney.
From Parramatta Square 6 and 8 led by Walker Corporation and JPW, to the City of Parramatta’s PHIVE precinct (designed by Manuelle Gautrand, DesignInc, Lacoste + Stevenson), the incredible Powerhouse Museum designed by Genton to the recently opened Parramatta Aquatic Centre designed by Grimshaw and ABA, as well as Deicorp’s Showground Precinct at Castle Hill, designed by Turner Architects.
Parramatta is a hot bed of urban innovation; from the first vertical high school in NSW (Arthur Phillip High School) and UWS’ first vertical campus, multiple BTR projects as well as unique integrated mixed-use projects such as 8 Phillip Street by Woods Baggot.
The CBD itself is undergoing a rapid transformation off the back of the completion of Parramatta Square and the Parramatta Light Rail, with the future Parramatta Metro station currently under construction, as well as the Powerhouse Museum slated for completion next year.
As the geographic centre of Sydney, Parramatta is a wonderful, culturally vibrant city, that we’re proud to have worked within over the past few years, on a range of placemaking, community and urban strategy projects.
Thanks to everyone involved that helped bring this tour to life!
